December 21st, 2010Dessert, Product ReviewsDid someone say poundcake ? Did someone say cinnamon sauce? Add the 2 together and you get QUITE the dessert. And, of course, it’s available from Plentiful Pantry ! Just add this to their growing list of mixes that get you out of the kitchen in no time flat.
As usual with the mixes from Plentiful Pantry, the dish had the guests OOOing and AHHHing as they bit into the most moist poundcake they had ever had (and that was before I even added the sauce !). All I did was add butter and water – how great is that !?!?
Check out the full line of desserts over at Plentiful Pantry. They have so many different ones to choose from and they all turn out perfect dishes full of homemade taste.

December 13th, 2010Dinner, pasta, Product Reviews, SidesDoes making risotto scare you? It scares me ! Especially after watching Hell’s Kitchen with Chef Gordon Ramsay screaming at everyone that they can’t get the risotto right
Queue up “Rocky” music….Plentiful Pantry has come to the rescue – and now you can be a winner whenever you make risotto ! Their Three Cheese Risotto mix could not be any easier to prepare. Just add water, simmer, add cheese and you have PERFECT risotto.
It’s creamy, elegant, moist, cheesy, and so very flavorful. I think next time I am going to add some sauted mushrooms in for a beautiful Mushroom Risotto. The box makes 6 servings and it comes out to 140 calories per serving.
I don’t know how they do it, but all of their mixes turn out the most fabulous results. They must have some pretty good test kitchen chefs !! Thanks again, Plentiful Pantry – you made another meal a success.

December 2nd, 2010Lunch, pasta, Product ReviewsLooking for something a little different for lunch? Instead of regular old pasta salad, how about some Hawaiian pasta salad? Plentiful Pantry makes it so easy and it is such a refreshing change of pace.
8 servings
180 calories per servingTheir mix basically handles the noodles and the dressing spices – you just add some cooked chicken (I used leftover Thanksgiving turkey and it was great !), pineapple tidbits, mandarin oranges, onion and avocado. The mixture of noodles (colors and shapes) makes for such a fun salad! And their poppy seed dressing is so special – sweet without being too sweet and just a little tart with the mustard in the dressing and the vinegar bite. Just whisk up the dressing and pout over the fruits, meat and cooked pasta. Chill a bit and presto…LUNCH IS SERVED !
Plentiful Pantry does such a great job of getting you out of the kitchen fast providing mixes that are tasty and easy to put together. I have tried several of their products and I find them all to turn out very good food.

September 20th, 2010Product Reviews, SoupsIf you’re looking for a Campbell’s type tomato soup, then don’t look here ! This mix produces a restaurant quality bisque that tastes like you made it from scratch.
6 servings
180 calories per servingJust grab a box of Roasted Tomato Parmesan Bisque from Plentiful Pantry and add some water and simmer for 25 minutes – that is literally all you have to do to get the creamiest, richest bisque your kitchen has ever produced !
The flavor profile of the soup is GREAT. It takes like you roasted tomatoes, cooked them down with garlic and a nice parmesan rind, the pureed and strained the whole thing. Of course, that would take hours. And this soup….under 1/2 hour and no sweat on your brow! Try serving with a dollop of low fat sour cream.
You’d be proud to serve this at your next dinner party. So head on over to Plentiful Pantry and use COUPON CODE 4HCOL25 and get 25% off your order !

June 9th, 2010Dessert, Kid Friendly, Product ReviewsThe good folks at PlentifulPantry sent me a couple of their dessert mixes to try and here is the second installment….Chidester Farms Blondies with Maple Sauce. The mix makes is sooooo simple to whip up a batch in no time and the blondies were very good – but what made this dessert GREAT is the maple sauce !! IT was rich and sweet without going overboard. It is a perfect sauce – I want to buy it and put in on EVERYTHING
The big box comes with enough ingredients to make 2 batches – 2 batches would fit in a 9×13 baking dish while 1 fits nicely in an 8×8 baking dish. This is as simple as putting together a cake mix – - simple, simple, simple . And the blondies….oh they just melt in your mouth !
As well as the mix, you will need a few ingredients:
¼ c water
1/3 c vegetable oil
2 eggs1 batch yields 12 servings
250 calories per servingJust follow the package instructions and then sit by the oven and wait – because you want to dig into these as quick as humanly possible !
Try serving with some lite vanilla ice cream or some whipped topping.
Be sure to visit PlentifulPantry and check out their products – they have a whole bunch of ‘partially prepped’ products that get you out of the kitchen faster without skimping on quality. This is also available this month at Costco – so be sure to get some and put the sauce in your coffee, on your morning cereal, in your granola – and even on the blondies

June 5th, 2010Dessert, Kid Friendly, Product ReviewsThe good folks at PlentifulPantry sent me a couple of their dessert mixes to try and here is the first installment….Chidester Farms Key Lime Cheesecake Bars.
The big box comes with enough ingredients to make 2 batches – 2 batches would fit in a 9×13 baking dish while 1 fits nicely in an 8×8 baking dish. I had doubts about a chocolate crust with a citrus dessert, but it was a perfect accompaniment.
As well as the mix, you will need a few ingredients:
1 c hot water
2 8 oz. blocks of cream cheese
6 T butter1 batch yields 16 servings
120 calories per servingJust follow the package instructions and in an hour you will have delightfully rich cheesecake bars with just the right amount of lime flavoring.
